World Challenge 2026
Our World Challenge expedition in July began in eSwatini, where students immersed themselves in local culture before undertaking several days of community project work at a neighbourhood care point supported by World Challenge. Their tasks included clearing land for the foundations of a new clinic, assisting with daily activities for children, and participating in community life through shared games and a church service. This phase offered meaningful insight into rural development and gave students the chance to contribute to a long‑term initiative while forming strong connections with the community.
From there, the group travelled north for a safari experience in Kruger National Park, spending time observing wildlife and learning from expert guides. Long days scanning the bush rewarded them with sightings of a wide range of animals, including the Big Five and a dramatic wild‑dog hunt. Between game drives, students enjoyed camp life, swimming, and team routines that helped reset before the next challenge: the Lubombo Trek. Over several days, they navigated rocky terrain, steep climbs and intense heat, wild camping along the way, developing resilience, teamwork and confidence as they completed the route.
The final phase took place on the coast of Mozambique, where students engaged in marine conservation and enjoyed some well‑earned rest. Ocean safaris allowed them to swim with whale sharks, observe humpback whales and learn about local ecosystems, microplastics and sustainable waste management. Time in Tofo and Vilanculos included cultural exploration, beach activities, conservation workshops and reflection on personal growth throughout the expedition. The trip concluded with a final group debrief and a memorable sunrise - an experience that will undoubtedly stay with students for years to come.
